Manticore’s Mission is to Bring Radical Accessibility and Speed to Making Games with Core™, a Digital Playground and Community for Creators and Players

SAN MATEO, CALIF. — Sept. 24, 2019 — Manticore Games™ has raised $30 million in a Series B financing round. The company is developing Core™, a digital playground and community designed to unleash imagination and redefine game creation, distribution and play.

“Core’s mission is to empower and discover a whole new generation of creators.” said Frederic Descamps, CEO and co-founder, Manticore Games. “Developing successful multiplayer online games today is extremely arduous and mostly reserved for well-resourced teams. Core frees creators from those constraints and allows their creativity to thrive with experimentation and collaboration.”

“Core feels like magic,” said Jordan Maynard, Manticore’s Chief Creative Officer and co-founder. “Under the hood we have built incredibly sophisticated technology with an easy-to-use interface for creating high quality games without the art and coding overhead. The result is a platform that is radically accessible, yet enables extremely high quality graphics and gameplay. We can’t wait to be blown away by the innovation and imagination of Core creators.”

Led by industry veterans Frederic Descamps and Jordan Maynard, whose past experience includes making games and running services at companies like EA, Zynga, Xfire, Trion Worlds, and A Bit Lucky, Manticore was founded with the mission to help define the next era in games. Manticore’s vision is to open a door to innovation and emergent game design by bringing creators and players of all skill levels together in a collaborative social ecosystem that supports a wide variety of shared online experiences.

“Frederic and Jordan founded Manticore on a revolutionary idea,” said returning investor and Benchmark General Partner Mitch Lasky. “They saw the opportunity to radically simplify the way high-quality 3D games are created and published, and in the process, to open up gaming to the explosion of innovative user-generated content that has transformed other media. Core unlocks a new world of possibilities for both game designers and game players, and it is truly one of the most exciting things we’ve seen in gaming in many years.”
